With all the blessings of Lord Dharma Sastha, the trustees of the Nalloor Vettuveni Kandan Sastha Devaswom established a pioneer educational venture in the year 1963. It is a Trust that administers a famous private temple, named Nallor Vettuvenni Kandan Sastha. The temple is situated near the banks of the river, Thamirabarani. The Teacher Training Institute is situated at Attoor, a rural area surrounded by a chain of villages, rivers and foot hills, was once a citadel of education, culture and renaissance.
In 1963, a Managing committee was constituted to look after the affairs of the institution by the N.V.K.S. Devaswom, during 1969 – '70, the committee was reconstituted and registered as N.V.K.S. Educational Society. (Registration number 26/69). In September 1998, a new managing committee was constituted as per the by – laws of the N.V.K.S. Educational society and also as per the provisions of the T.N.P.C. Regulation Act of 1976.The present Managing Comitte was formed in May 2004 as per the Registration norms.
In the year 2005, the National Council of Teacher Education and the State Government of Tamilnadu granted Approval. Approval order No. F. TN/ 39/ SRO/ NCTE/ 2004 – 05/ 9138 to the Teacher Training Institute, and it started functioning from 03- 10 – 2005 with the strength of 50 students.
The institution is co – educational and presently it has the strength of 100 students in two rolls (first & second year). The institution is an academic landmark in the history of Kanyakumari district. Its towering ideal is to ensure that every trainee by the end of the two year Diploma in Teacher Education Course, achieves academic excellence, professional competence and commitment to serve the community. It is a private Un – aided institution with management's relentless efforts. The institution has now blossomed into one of the centres of excellence in Tamilnadu.
The institute has a sprawling Campus with spacious buildings, calm and serene atmosphere, adequate infrastructure, competent faculty, a modern computer lab with free access to internet for all students and handsome placement facilities. An hostel for women students, a model school (CBSC pattern) and a college of Education are the special features of this Campus.
